Adult and youth classes suit beginners and longer-term practitioners alike. You develop body control, mobility, and focus without competition. You can visit anytime — the first class is free, and no prior experience is needed.
Tampere has classes on most weekdays; Hyvinkää trains on Fridays and Sundays. With a membership you can practice at both dojos. See also adults training or the basic course.
Common myths: aikido does not require youth, peak fitness, or a martial arts background. Groups mix ages and experience levels — newcomers get partners who know how to train safely. Etiquette is learned by doing, not by exam. If you feel nervous, that is normal; most people feel at home after a few visits. There is also no “right” body type — practice adapts to how you feel on the day.
The first training session is always free! Adults and youth can visit anytime – no advance registration required.
Sweatpants and a t-shirt are enough to start. You can get an aikido uniform (gi) later.
Join and progress at your own pace. As a member, you can attend all general training sessions at both dojos.
In your first session we practice safe falling, basic movement, and simple partner techniques. You do not need to know etiquette or Japanese terms in advance — you get guidance on the spot. You can adjust the pace to your fitness level.
Sweatpants or other flexible long pants and a t-shirt are enough. We train barefoot on the tatami; sandals or flip-flops help for the walk from the changing room. Bring a towel and a water bottle. Leave jewellery off. If you are unsure which class to try first, a low-impact session is often the calmest way to start. If a movement feels uncomfortable, say so right away — there is usually a gentler option.
