    Private aikido lessons

Personal instruction tailored specifically to your needs.

    In short

Private lessons are personal aikido instruction in Tampere or Hyvinkää. You can come alone, with a friend, or in a small group — the content is tailored to your goals.

Do you already have experience with aikido training but would like instruction tailored specifically for you? Or are you thinking of fun activities with your friends? Private lessons are for you.

Lessons also work well when you want to review the basics at a calm pace, prepare for a seminar, or practice weapons (bokken, jo) with more precise coaching than in a large group. They work especially well alongside group training: you can deepen one area and return to the mat with a clearer focus.

If you want a longer personal start that includes membership, see the starter pack. Current prices for single sessions and packages are on the pricing page.

A private lesson is also a good choice when your schedule is irregular: you can book a time that actually works, without committing to a weekly rhythm right away. Many people use private lessons as a bridge into group training — a few sessions of personal coaching make the first group classes feel clearly more relaxed.

    Who are private lessons for?

A private lesson typically lasts about an hour. We agree in advance what to focus on: basics, refining technique, falling, or weapons practice. No prior experience is required, but lessons also work especially well alongside group training.

Lessons are held in Tampere or Hyvinkää at an agreed time. Group training is available via membership or a trial class. If you are unsure whether a private lesson or the starter pack fits better, tell us your goals when you contact us and we will help you choose.

    For Experienced Practitioners

Deepen your skills and get personal feedback on your techniques. We can focus on exactly the points where you want clarity or more repetitions — for example timing, distance, or weapons practice.

    For Friend Groups

Fun activities together at your own pace. Ideal for two or three friends who want to try aikido without a large group, or friends who already train and want to review together.

    What does a lesson include?

A lesson starts with a short warm-up and a recap of your goals. Then we practice the agreed theme: for example safe falling, basic movement, partner techniques, or weapons work. At the end we outline what to review next time or in group class. Because coaching is personal, we can pause on details that often stay brief in a large group — such as distance, timing, or how the feet and hips support the movement.

You can bring your own theme (for example a specific technique, exam preparation, or gentler practice after recovery) or ask us to propose a plan. In either case the goal is a clear, safe, and practical hour.

Contact us via the form, email, or WhatsApp. Tell us your preferences (dojo, timing, number of participants, and theme), and we will suggest a suitable time. Sweatpants and a t-shirt are usually enough; loan uniforms are available at the dojo if needed.

If you prefer to start in a group, explore the basic course or memberships.

    Practical tips

    • Write a short note about what you want to focus on — it speeds up booking.
    • If you come more than once, a package helps build a sequence (e.g. falling → technique).
    • Mention injuries or limitations beforehand so we can plan safe content.
    • Allow time to change before and after — the hour is focused practice from start to finish.

    Extended Training Program?

We can also create a more extensive, longer-term training program tailored to your goals — for example seminar preparation, a weapons block, or a personal development path alongside group classes. Tell us your aim and we will propose a suitable structure.

    Frequently asked questions

    How long is one lesson?

Typically about an hour. We can also agree a shorter or longer session if seminar preparation or a specific theme requires it.

Can more than one person attend?

Yes. You can come alone, with a friend, or in a small group. Content is tailored to the participants' level and goals. Even in a small group there is still time to coach each person personally.

    Is prior experience required?

No. Beginners are welcome, and experienced practitioners can use lessons to refine technique, falling, or weapons practice.

    Where are lessons held?

At our dojo in Tampere or Hyvinkää at an agreed time. Share your preferences when you contact us, and we will suggest a suitable place and slot.

How do private lessons differ from the starter pack?

A private lesson is a flexible single session or short package without automatic membership. The starter pack is a three-hour personal start that includes one month of membership. If you are unsure, ask — we will help you choose.
